Does any one know of good places to eat in Rome in a budget beside pizza ? in Spain the montaditos (Sandwiches) are good but the tapas are not for people on a budget for what I experienced.

I guess on a budget for me will be 5 Euros or less, which are hard to find. call me cheap... lol... any info is welcome, Thanx a lot!!!

If you stay at Plus Camping Roma (Camping site and hostel) there is a big supermarket right across the street. I bought a gas cooker, a pot, a pan and supplies. For 2 weeks I lived like a king eating noodles, fried eggs, cheeseburger, canned soup, ... 5 Euros a day for food was a bit low though, especially considering all the delicacies on display there. In the end it worked out to about 6-7 EUR per day for food I think.

7 to 10 EUR is ok. No eating out on that budget though, as a Pizza will set you back around 7 EUR if you can find a very cheap restaurant and will only fill you up for 3 hours. The same amount of money spent on bread, apples, bananas, cheese and sausage will last you 1 1/2 days. You can easily buy some cooked chicken or some salmon steaks with your 10 EUR per day, but still be prepared to eat pasta or self-made sandwiches more often than you really like. The absence of a cooler during the hot summer was a real draw back for me, I could not simply cook a larger amount of food and eat it over a period of 2-3 days.
