hi there

Have any of you experienced travellers taken your mobile phone with you while travelling? What did you do with your contract? My mobile phone company are saying that I need to transfer my contract to someone else if I want to get rid of it. I cant cancel it till Feb 09 and I am leaving End October 08.

I was thinking of finding a cheap pay as you go deal for while Im away, for emergencies, and occasional phone call.

Best bet is to pick up a cheap sim in the countries you are going to.

But if you really are just using it for emergencies then a pay as you go works fine, just be sure to get it a few weeks before hand and enable roaming on it!!

Again it depends on how long you are going for? A week, month, year. Sometimes it might be worth just holding on to the contract if you are only going for a few months, and still need an emergency phone while away.

im away for 5 months in asia, but then on to Oz, working for 6 months. So I suppose I could just try and downgrade to cheapest contract while im away and keep the contract till im back

anyone done anything different to this?
