I would start by booking your flights ASAP otherwsie you will be paying a premium for them , that un;less you are to late already.

Get them booked then plan where and how you want to do the above. Thats my advice :)

Hi,
Everything is really depends on what you like to do - whether you like backpacking or just touring, activities, extreme activities or other attractions. If you could be more specific about what you like, I could give you a better advice on a places in NZ or OZ.
Anyway, I suggest this interesting site about New Zealand: -snip-

An answer to such a request will be to write a new website
Talking about NZ - it will be easier to help you start planning if you knew which island you want to travel (or maybe both?). I think if you read some of the information that is in the Travellerspoint Travel Guide, it will give you a good start. You can also look at NZ Tourism Online website (http://www.tourism.net.nz/) to get ideas as to what there is to do around here.

I agree with divaboy, you should book your flights asap.
Make sure you look carefully at the taxes and fuel surcharge though because these days fuel surcharge seems to cost more than the plane ticket itself

I live in Australia and I highly recommend having a look at jetabroad.com.au (just because it's an Aussie site and they have great customer service )

As for the budget, it depends on where you are planning to stay, are you travelling alone? Where are you intending to visit in Aus and NZ? as in... Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland, Christchurch, or Wellington....

Tell us a bit more so we can be more specific with suggestions
