Does anyone else remember Jif lemon? Can you still get it? And what's the point?

We have an equivalent named ReaLemon and it still comes in the little lemon-shaped squeeze bottle. Because it's lemon juice concentrate - just a small amount is usually needed in recipes. Over here, that little lemon bottle still has great appeal and those who grew up with a little lemon in the fridge buy it for the nostalgia. It's great for people who don't use a lot of lemons because they can use just a little and it keeps in the fridge for almost ever. (Personally, I buy lemons but look at that little lemon bottle and smile every time.)

Yes you can still get it! It's great for elderly people who can't squeeze lemons anymore. Personally I prefer real lemons, but if there were none available then I suppose I'd use it!

I sometimes use them because they keep longer in the fridge than fresh lemons, and I use lemon juice in cooking sometimes. Although now I'm in NZ it's just in a boring bottle shape ;)

In a bottle Bex? That is odd - I thought the clever plastic imitation lemon was the whole idea.

And I love how fake lemon gets to be called ReaLemon in the states. That's total grocery newspeak.

I found this, via google. I'm feeling all nostalgic, 'don't forget the pancakes on Jif Lemon day!'.

I'm confused . . . wasn't Jif a cleaning product??? It's Cif now.

The label says:
INGREDIENTS:
Lemon juice from concentrate (water, concentrated lemon juice), sodium benzoate, sodium metabisulfite and sodium sulfite (preservatives), lemon oil.

Contains concentrate from the United States & Argentina.
Contains 100% lemon juice.
The Juice of 10 Quality Lemons.

What's a little preservative in your lemon juice!

Jif is a peanut butter over here (though we prefer Skippy).

My sister had a friend who's grandmother used to hang empty ReaLemon bottles from her indoor palm tree. Classy stuff!
