Hi there, I'm going to Las Vegas in December 2004 and had booked a youth hostel, but my friend has just stayed there and has said its not in a good area and maybe to find somewhere else.

We arrive on a Saturday night and there are 3 of us (all girls) looking for something thats not too expensive and not too bad!

please help!

There are a lot of really cheap hotels to be found in Las Vegas. I have seen hotels off-strip for as little as $19.95 a night.

Check out

Hi Julie,
If there's 3 of you who can share, then you shouldn't have a problem finding a reasonable hotel somewhere. Even at $40 a night you're talking $13 each, about £7 !
How cheap do you want!

I have been to Las Vegas many times. I would suggest staying in walking distance to the strip, it will save you a bundle in cab fare. If you decide to stay off the stip you should plan on spending $10-$15 (a day) for transportation. There is bus transportation, but the problem is they are so crowded you may not be able to squeeze in and have to wait for the next one.
A couple suggestions...
The San Remo, is a hotel/casino and is ok... and usually has good rates. It is a medium walk to the stip, across the street from the MGM, and next to the Tropicana.
The motel 6 is cheap. No ammenities, but close enough to walk to the main strip. It is next to the San Memo and is about a 15 minute walk to the intersection of New York New York/ MGM.
If you want a nice pool, and added ammenities in a good location... but cheap for the location... try the Tropicana. I stayed there for 5 days with a travel buddy and we split a $300 bill. The rate went up on the weekends, so we flew out on a Monday and stayed until Saturday. The rate was around $35 weekdays and went up on Friday. They had a nice pool with waterfall and only hotel guests were allowed to enter.
If you want a cheaper hotel, and don't mind paying for a cab to travel... try the Quality Inn. Very cheap and it is safe and clean. (Well not clean my at home, but ok clean)

thanks for all your help guys, next week i will work out what to do with where we are staying! We had already paid for 1 night at a youth hostel for the saturday night, but a friend of mine ( a guy) stayed there last week and said it was in a really bad part of the town and that he was scared for his life, so being 3 girls we dont really want to stay there!!!!

so just trying to find somewhere reasonable!
