Hey Jo,

I camped while at Yosemite, and it was great. It could be getting cold in November of course, but if you have the right equipment it would be fine. Camping is a lot of fun, and the facilities are Yosemite are pretty good.

I drove from San Fran to Yosemite and the route is absolutely fine. It's about a 3-4 hour drive (approx 200 miles) east out of SF. Roads are good all the way.

Lots to do in Yosemite. Hiking, mountain climbing, horseriding, tourist bus around the park, etc...all the outdoor stuff you can think of really. I'd recommend checking out Mariposa Grove - contains some giant sequoia trees!

Stay in the Park. Recommend the Lodge at Yosemite Falls.

The nearby Mountain Room Restaurant is outstanding and a surprising good value for the quality of the dining.

Hey Jo,

I hiked the John Muir Trail from Yosemite to Mt Whitney this August. Yosemite is beautiful you'll find no shortage of things to do. There are 10+ campgrounds in the park, and back country camping permits are available free from any visitor/information center. Remember that while in the park you'll be at 5,000+ ft, so pack warm in November.

Cheers.

Well, for sheer luxury, nothing beats the Ahwahnee Lodge:

If you want to go to a hotel that's cheaper, either pick the Yosemite Lodge, or stay outside the park in the city of Sonora. (Oh, and don't forget to visit the Ironstone Winery closeby to Sonora).

Enjoy

Explore Yosemite Valley -- that's the best part!

Nothing bad, not a lot of worries about animals this time of year -- too early for rattlesnakes.

Take a camera!!!
