All excellent choices for sure people.

And yes, I remember captain planet now too, though I didn't watch it too much. But now the song is in my head.

Aww... now I'm all reminiscent. I wonder if its possible to find some of these cartoons somewhere... Any thoughts?

Yu can get virtually all of them on cut price DVD these days, plus all the classic kids shows - as a little extra gift, i got my mum the complete flumps* on DVD last Xmas as it only cost a fiver and i've never seen anybody so happy!

You can get virtually everything now. It's great

  • will be interesting to see who here remembers the flumps and who's never heard of them!

Yeah, there are so many good ones mentioned!

The one that takes me back to the late 80's tho is the "Masters of the Universe". He-Man vs Skeletor and all the other cronies! There we the others such as Kobra Kahn, Trapjaw, Merman, Beastman, Fakor, Whiplash, Spikor, Stratos, Fisto, Jitsu...... and the characters go on and on and on!!!

The best part was the figurines that you could buy, and you would just go on and on to your parents about getting Beastman (or whoever), cos he was the ultimate bad ass that you wanted!!!!

I remember back in the early 90's i used to get my masters of the universe figurines and play Aussie Rules Football with them, good vs bad on opposing teams. I got Beastman who was playing at full forward to take a spekkie mark over Twobad. But then i broke both of his legs off by accident pulling off the mark. I was devistated after that, and i never got beastman replaced!

Ahhh, the innocence of being a kid again. Now we gotta put up with working and morgages and everything else that gets thrown at us. :(:(:(

Cheers all

Yes Masters of the Universe cranked back in the day. I used to have all the figourines and stuff like that. But playing Aussie Rules Football with them? That sounds a bit out there!! Sounds like you took your toy playing games to another level!!

Beast Man taking a hangar on Two Bad!! Classic mate.I guess us Aussies are cut from a different breed to the rest right Gomes??

I also loved the MASK and Thundercats cartoons, thinking about them, like I have done, takes me back to my childhood days of running amock with my mates and being free!!

Catch you all down the road...

Yeah, thats what i think separated Masters of the Universe from all of the other cartoons. It was more about a fantasy and whole world of enjoyment. It went beyond the cartoon. The figurines were so great to have as well. Its was like an obsession back in the day!

Beastman was the ultimate villan cronie, naturally skellator was the big bad bloke, but beastman had to do all the dirty work!

Sounds like you know what im talking about Hangman! I think we are both true aussie children of the 80's mate!!!! And the fact that you enjoy a bit of AFL, means we could have plenty to talk about!

Did anyone else have a huge collection of toys back in the day? How many did you have Hangman? I think my collection would have numbered around 20 characters. And naturally you had to have the newest version of He-man...... this time he had some big ass punch that he could do, or some new ride on machine. I wish i had held onto my collection for my kids in teh future, but i think my parents canned all of them when i got older!

Yeah mate, I had tons of Masters toys. The problem was I kept losing all the armour, weapons and stuff all over the place.I remember I once had the TriClops figurine and lost his big green sword down the drain!!

But that was what it was all about back then. Nothing mattered, only toys, lollies and having fun.

I also remember the stupid variances of He-Man and Skeletor. Trying to cash in as best they could before the tide eventually turned against the popularity of He-Man. I think it was called Thunder punch He-Man or some crazy stuff like that!

The thing is I used had so many of them that only the Lord knows where they ended up.

Playing Aussie Rules football with your toys still cracks me up!! Yes I am a big fan of Aussie Rules. I support the Swans as I am from Sydney.

Anyway tme to check out.

Catch you all down the road somewhere.......

Sounds like you had a good collection back in your childhood Hangman.

Who did you like the most as a figurine and who did you like the most in the cartoon?

My favourite figurine was Mechaneck, but in the cartoon i liked Man-at-arms, Dunno why, just because he was a good sidekick i think. I didn't have He-man as my favourite because he was everyones favourite.

Bringing back a lot of good memories from my childhood!

Seeyas all later!

I used to watch loads of cartoons but there is on I remember quite well but I can't think of the name of it. I think it had a character in it called Zoolander and he had robot friends which were good at sports if i remember right. Also you could watch parts of the show with 3D glasses.

Anyone know the name of the cartoon?
