amestrdum next weekend ,, help and suggestion

hi ,, need some help from you ,, i am from denmark aarhus and planing to amesterdum for the first time ,, we are 4 ppl and planing for a weekend there ,,

We need information about ams like

1. Accomodationn ( cheap youth hostel address with price)

2 PLace must to see and activitied that we can do there

3. how to be there so i can save my day time ,, i want to travel during night time,, well connect city from which i can take buses / train to aarhus

It would be great if you can help me in any of these

we are planing to travel next week that is 24th oct .. any special event during that weekend would be gr8

You certainly wont find a room for 4 people in a hostel next weekend. you may be lucky and find 4 beds in a big dorm though. However, here are 2 of my last posts about amsterdam;

1.
Must do's:

Hire a bike and just cycle around the canals and see what you stumble across.
Get on a boat tour and get a view of Amsterdam from the canals.
Visit Anne Frank's house (I really recommend this, even if you are not into museums).
Walk around the Red Light District at night.
Go to the Leidseplein for your evening's drinking and clubbing and gigging.
Take a packed lunch and sit and eat it in Dam Square if the weather is nice and watch the whole world go by.
Go for a coffee or a smoke (if you indulge) in one of the coffee shops.
Have a pancake at the Pancake Bakery, a lovely restaurant that does amazing sweet and savoury pancakes.

I have been doing a LOT of research on the internet now and I have found a few hotels with elevators that are even cheaper than hostels!!!! That was quite a surprise. I suppose hostel owners put their prices right up because travellers always look to hostels first for cheap accomodation, but hostels in Amsterdam are now very expensive. So here is a tip to anyone visiting Amsterdam; Try looking at hotels instead of hostels and stop the ridiculous rise in prices of hostels in Amsterdam especially the ones which are basically just hovels dressed up as a place to stay. It really got me thinking that these hostel owners are really ripping off the travellers in Amsterdam. It was only a couple of years ago that you could get a hostel for 15 euros in Amsterdam, nowadays you are looking at prices of about 40 euros for a room at the weekend. With greed and overspending so much in the news at the moment, it really does show just how greedy the world has become.

hi bwiiian, thanks a lot for your guidance .. i feel it is usefull , i have booked the flight from billund to ams on friday evening and coming back on monday morning . so we are going to spend 3 night there .. i have not yet booked any accomodation ,, you mentioned that some hotel is cheaper than hostel ,, if you can give me any link for that hotel and the place which os preferable to book the accomodation .. so that we can easily access to every thing ..

Try easytobook.com as they have some good cheap hotels there. I am going to Amsterdam in 2 weeks and we have booked a room at a hotel for 4 people for 3 nights and it cost £300, so about £75 each for the 3 nights. Not bad really. Cheaper than the Bulldog hostel!!

Have a look at the Stayok Hostels. I think they have dorms for 4 people. I paid for a dorm 25 Eur/night.

They do have rooms for 4 people but they are all booked up for the next several weekends. Just massive dorms left now.
