Hello,
We are planning a trip from Oregon to see our kids in Rockville Maryland, and Brooklyn NY. In January, we want to fly into Baltimore Airport (cheapest airfare) but don't know how to get to Rockville from there. We would appreciate suggestions for options, easy and not too expensive.... Then, after 3 days in Rockville, we want to go to Brooklyn. How do we get on Amtrak from Rockville?

Thank you!

Hi Mom,

Rockville is 41 miles from the BWI airport. Assuming no one is going to pick you up at the terminal here is the easiest:

Amtrak regional train from BWI to RKV (Rockville). Takes about 25 minutes.

After your visit is over, take Amtrak from RKV Rockville to New York City. You'll change trains in Washington DC Union Station.

Amtrak's website is easy to navigate

To the best of my knowledge, Rockville is suburban DC (northern sub.) - Amtrak service on the Eastern corridor is excellent (a far cry from the service we have on the West Coast). I agree that you should view the Amtrak website and purchase tickets ASAP since it's cheaper the further out you are to the trip. The standard train is quite nice and fast (no need for the deluxe train).
