I realise this has probably been asked many times before, so if theres another thread pls direct me to it.
But whats the best way to get a visa ? can you get it when you arrive, I'm flying into Ho Chi Minh City.
Or must we get it before?

You have the choice of getting the visa before you go at a Vietnamese embassy/consulate or getting the Approval Letter from Vietnamese Immigration by email from a travel agency in Vietnam. I used the email/Approval Letter, also called Visa on Arrival service, and it worked very well. You print off the letter that's sent, show it to your airline, and the actual hard-copy visa is given to you at the airport. You can use a search engine to find out more. I personally used www.visatovietnam.org, and I recommend them highly.

Dear Fagen,

do your visa before you go will be better. You can contact with some local travel agent in Saigon. price 25 usd

send them your copy of passport.

Good luck

Fagen,
I bought a VN visa in the US and it cost me over $65, counting the postage to and from the embassy. I used the VN 'visa on arrival' system in April and it worked as advertised. I used this one, as it was cheaper than the other companies in SGN or HAN ($42). I wrote about this in my blog.
Send me a PM if you have questions.

The fastest and easiest way to get a visa to Vietnam is applying online for a Visa on Arrival through a travel agent. You will get your Visa Approval Letter (or Visa Pre-approved Letter) after 2-3 working days (normal) or 1 working day (urgent).

The other way is to get normal Vietnam entry visa (to be received before traveling) directly at Vietnam Embassy in your country. This takes time (around 4-10 days) and requires many procedures. So the former is better!
