Another option is that you actually created it 12 times with slightly different co-ordinates each time because you mapped it in a really zoomed out state which makes setting location less precise. Considering Peter's comment though, I'm leaning towards this being the same problem, so they all do have the same co-ordinates; it just shows multiple times.

I remember writing a query which would clean up unused custom locations for a user, partially to prevent multiple distinctly created locations from messing things up. Is that not being run anymore for some reason? Maybe it needs some more entry points now that a whole lot of mapping happens outside of trip creating?
(Or is the problem different, with there being but a single location in database here, which somehow gets tossed into the XML multiple times?)

Yeah, that query is still being run. But it only runs when the user hits the photo mapping page, so maybe it also needs to be hit in a few other spots to pre-empt this problem. Interestingly, by the time I checked my Maits Rest example though, two of the entries did actually have photos attached, so even that query wouldn't have cleared that up.

Hi guys

I am not sure if this was every fully completed and if I am indeed experiencing the same problem.

I am trying to map a few of my photos to Yellowstone National Park, but the automatic completion thingy only gives Yellostone in 3 states but no mention of the park. When I tried to manually type in the name it came back saying that it could not find the location.

Also is there a way to add new locations as I will probably be adding photos of places you have not yet listed.

Thanks a lot
Gill

National parks are not in our database, so the best you can do at the moment is select a nearby town. You can also add custom locations through the mapping interface. Those will then be available when you are uploading photos in batch format later on as well. The process is briefly described in this FAQ

We are working on a revamp to the mapping area, which should resolve this issue in the not-too-distant future. But for now, these are the limitations.

Hi Peter

Thanks so much for the assistance and sorry I did not find that answer in the FAQ on my own.

No sweat. We're happy to answer any questions or at least point people in the right direction :)
