I'm a fysiotherapist from Belgium, and i had the crazy idea to drop everything here and to go travel!
Now , i'm leaving the end of november to Perth and will do the south and eastcoast!
I was wondering if anyone has an idea how much backpackers spent a month? ok it depends what u r gonna do, diving, outdoor activities, australian open,.. And YES i would like to to do everything what i want, coz it's a once-in-a-lifetime expercience for me!!
Some people told me, 1000 euro a month?
Thanks in advance!!!!
1000 euro a month is about right for living frugally, although even on the low end if you don't have experience with travelling cheaply in Australia. Could be 1500 euro a month without you needing to do anything out of the ordinary for it.
Your biggest cost will be transport; as long as you stick to dorm rooms in hostels and buy supermarket food to cook your own meals, you should be able to stay close to that 1000 euro - but stay in the bigger cities for more than a couple of days, do some activities or go out occasionally, and the amount will be creeping upward. Since you've already said you want to go do lots of activities, I'd take 1500 euro a month as the lower bound, and try to prevent the total from going over 2000 euro a month. (At least the current exchange rate should really help with that.)
Yeah I'd say $1500 Euro is about right, obviously depends on what tours and trips you plan to do! you'll find backpacker accom will cost you approx aus$175 a week. -snip-
Have a great trip!

I'd agree with Sander - I spent £1200 per month in oz which at the current exchange rate is around 1500 Euro. I mostly cooked in hostels and always stayed in dorms, but did do some activites and tours 2 internal flights were included in that cost.
