US $ in from ATM's Chile

Does anybody know if it is possible to withdraw in $ US from an ATM in Chile ? The original card is denominated in pounds sterling.

My experience of three years ago is that ATMs dispense Chilean currency. I imagine that's regardless of what currency your account is in (USD, pounds, rubels). That said, I never needed anything but Chilean currency EXCEPT for a tour of the Salar de Uyuni, they requested USD cash or pay a slightly higer "rate" when using local currency. I think this is because we started in Chile and immediately went into Bolivia, and it was easier for them to convert USD across the border.

In most ATMs in major South American cities and towns, you have the option of withdrawing local currency or US dollars.
