Best place to dive in the day and party at night in SE Asia?

Hey there,

In January/February next year I will be in SE Asia and meeting up with a mate who lives in Australia there, for a couple of weeks or so.

Now we want to do a lot of scuba diving during the days, but it has to be a place with good nightlife as well. Can anyone recommend anywhere? I'm thinking Cambodia, Vietnam or maybe as far south as Malaysia, or the Phillipines if I can find cheap flights.

Can I just stress that as it will be a "holiday" for him that we can afford to splurge for these 2 weeks.

Thanks in advance, oh and by the way I know it's unsafe to dive with a hangover so we will be sensible the night before we do any diving

I really like the look of Boracay, Phillipines for both diving and nightlife, any opinions on that, or are there any others I should look at?

you can try Koh Tao in Thailand. The entire island is pretty much a scuba dive mecca. 95% of the people there are there to dive and at nights its pretty chilled out, people hang out at the bars on the beach to have a few beers. Its not a huge party hotspot, but its very social. If u wanna party hard u can just head over to Koh Phangan which is a few hours by boat away and enjoy one of the moon parties.

Thanks for that wanderer, although we've sorta decided against Thailand as I'll have been there for 2 months and my mate has been twice already.

Think we're gonna go with Boracay.

Redang Island Perhentian Island and Tenggol Island...all at East Coast Peninsular Malaysia ...Terengganu..world class diving.

February is rainy season on the east coast of the malai peninsula. Don't even think about it.

Boracay is a good choice.

Nha Trang beach in Vietnam is best place for diving.

I would say Nha Trang is not the best in SEA for diving but it'll match what you want to.
Nice beach, beautiful water and marine life, plus lively night oout.
