Belize anyone?

Looking to get lost for a few weeks in March. Has anyone been to Belize? What was your itinerary ? How was the weather in March? Any hostel recomendations? Am I asking too many questions?

I have only been to Caye Caulker in Belize and it was fantastic. I was on part of a tour group, so I stayed in Tom's Hotel/Cabin, but there definately other accomodation on the island. I went on a day snorkelling tour while there. I can't remember the exact name of the people, but if you do decide to go there, its at the Spit, and the boatbuilding/bar and boat is all rainbow colours. Maybe someone would be able to fill in the gaps.

Belize town is a DUMP. Most people go to one of the islands off of the coast. I'd consider somewhere else. How about Cuba or Costa Rica? Or even the other side of the world, Thailand? The troubles are only in a tiny part of Bangkok and even with a strong Baht, everything is so cheap out there with great beaches, etc and lots to see.
