HI! I'm travelling to Italy, between others countries, I want to have a cheap acommodation and I don't know if it's cheaper to book a hostel in advance on the internet or wait to be in the city to choose a cheap one. According to your experience, what would be better?
Thanks

I think it's a very good idea to book a room in advance on the internet. It's sometimes hard to find affordable accommodations on the fly and knowing where you will be staying allows you to spend more of your time and energy on the fun stuff. My 22 year old son shares my opinion. He spent last summer traveling through Spain, France, and The Netherlands and booked all his rooms ahead of time. Hostels.com is a really good place to start.

When I was in Rome last spring, I stayed at Hostel des Artistes which is located near Termini. I would definitely recommend it. www.hostelrome.com. If you stay there, be sure to eat at Mama Angela's around the corner. The food is great, the atmosphere is friendly, and they give des Artistes guests a nice discount.

Best of luck!

Definitely book in advance. hostelbookers, hostelworld, etc. Cheapest and best places get filled up early so book as early as possible.
