On yet another cold and grey November day (the last two weeks counted as November, no matter what the calendar claimed about them), Tina's party planning post sounded awfully appealing. I say it's been entire too long since the last travellerspoint meet, and we should go have another one. Sometime between now and the end of February, someplace warm. My very first suggestion would be to do it between Christmas and New Year's again, but to head to Southern Portugal this time around. (I have good memories of Christmas dinner on the beach in the Algarve.) I'm up for pretty much anyplace else that would get me out of this dreary country though. Who's interested? Who has other suggestions for places and times? Who'll bring the martinis?

Dang our 3-week vacation alottment! I'm officially done for the year after this trip. We'll be back in Belfast between May and July, though... does Belfast count as warm...? Although Portugal sounds so lovely. Anyone want to do Cuba?

May is officially summer in Belfast - after that we move into wet season of June onwards Christmas warm - mmmmmmm sounds idylic - lm in Cape Town at the end of Jan - that should be warm if anyone fancies a beer! Otherwise its London over new years - dont think that counts as warm some how though.

You are all welcome to come to St. Helena. I can offer free accom and guarantee it will be warm. However, logistically... Perhaps unsurprisingly, you'll have to count me out of this winters Europe sun party. *gnashes teeth at thought of missing out on a trip to Portugal, in what is fast becoming a depraved obsession to finally go there*

I would be interested. The only potential issue I would see with Christmas - New Years is the fact that a lot of people are travelling at that time, so getting flights and hotels / hostels could be difficult. As for place, I dunno, I'm just a dumb Canadian. Portugal sounds good to me, but I'm really up for anything.

Hmm, I guess I replied too early. Generally I wait until there is a good group of 8 to 10 people going, and then say, "Hey, I'm coming too!" That usually gives them no option to ditch out. Greg

Quoting Rraven I'd love to but I can't get time off work around the holiday season......... i've been trying since the original post went up but even after tantrums and begging they still said no...............
Well, since it's looking like those dates aren't good for anyone, we can definitely try some other dates. How about somewhere mid- to late-January? Maybe we could even get Purdy to make a stopover en route to Capetown?
