I travel to Germany quite a lot, as I love it yet I've never been able to learn to speak the language except for a few memorised phrases.

Does anyone know of any good language classes in the UK that I could attend?

All recommendations welcome!

Pan

One of the best online resources on learning German is the website of Deutsche Welle TV.

They have short lessons in German, starting at beginner's level and the best - it is free!

As for real-life courses, in Germany I could point you to community colleges. I wonder whether there is something similar in the UK?

There are some good intensive schools (alledgedly).

I'm going to one next week and will let you know how I get along.

Good luck with your studies anyway though.

depending on where you are in the UK, there may be a Goethe Institute where you can learn German - they have schools worldwide. Berlitz language schools are also supposed to be good.

Search for language schools and then look for reviews.

The absolute best way of course is to find someone who's already learnt the language and ask them how they did it.
