Hi. I've been told that it can be kinda hard to meet ppl in Bangkok, a lot of the hostels don
't seem to have dorms or very good communal areas. Can anyone recommend any hostels which are good for meeting other travellers? cheers

I just came back from Bangkok on May, Drop Inn which is located in Bangkok very convenient for shopping area, also take sky trains there, hope this helps you a lot for searching hostels to stay.

Have a nice day.

I stayed in 2 guesthouses in the Soi Rambuttri area, which is popular with backpackers, and both had really good communal areas. I'm sure this is the case with lots of other budget guesthouses around the Khao San Road and Soi Rambuttri areas. The two I stayed at were Bella Bella and My House and both were fine, but there are plenty of other similar ones in the area. Also, the bars and cafes around those areas are mainly geared towards backpackers and would be good places to meet other travellers.

You were advised right, its not the easiest place to meet people cos there aren't any dormatories in most hotels/lodges. I never stayed at My House, but I really wanted to (it was always fully booked) - it looked really chilled and easy to meet people, with a nice common area. Book in advance if you know your dates.
