I'm going to Broome for five days at the start of December, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations on what activites they did/enjoyed? Of course there will be the obligatory lazing around on Cable Beach, but we'd like to do a bit of exploring while we are there too.
Also would you recommend hiring a car while we are there (we are staying at Cable Beach, not in the Broome town) or can we get around easily enough without one?
Thanks in advance,

when I think of Broome I always remember that the 3-days I spent there were really relaxing, because pace of life there is just a little bit slower .
Still, there's a few things to do:
The obligatory sunset camel ride on Cable beach
visit the Broome history museum that features the interesting history of the pearling industry
watch a movie at the fantastic open air cinema
and lastly, I didn't do it myself but have heard that the pearling tours are quite interesting
As for getting around in Broome, everything's close and public transport from Cable Beach to the city was good and frequent. At night you might have to get a taxi, but that wasn't very expensive either. Don't think it'll be worth renting a car.
hi broome is most probably the most laid back place in the world nothing maters in broome even finding your self with no money seems not quite so bad.
you must watch the sun set on cable beach
you must go to the market and have a mango cup mmm i can still taste them a year later
and just relax
Lived in Broome for 4 months.
I would recommend watching the sunset at cable beach.
The market is great... all sorts there and good food stalls.
Open air cinema is an experiance.
Ganthium Point is also a kool place to hang out for a day... take a picnic and enjoy the peace!
If possible drive down cables to Willie Creek for a day to chill and have a fire and sleep under the stars (my best memory of Oz by far!)
What camp site are you staying on out of interest?
