Hello,

We have 3 weeks in Vietnam and are aiming to get from North to South in that time and cross into Cambodia.

We're trying to decide whether it is worth making the detour from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc Island. It appears we need to get a bus from HCMC to Rach Gia and then the hydrofoil to Phu Quoc.

Is this island still quite unspoilt? How does it compare to some of the beaches in South Thailand? We like quiet beaches a bit of snorkelling and the odd party but wouldn't consider ourselves party animals so prefer to stay away from developed tourist resorts.

We heard there is a boat from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien but that it is dangerous, is this really the case? Since it would be great if we didn't have to backtrack to HCMC in order to get to Cambodia.

It would be great to hear your experiences of Phu Quoc island!

Thanks very much,

Cheekyvee

Phu Quoc is a newly developed Island, quite unspoilt. It has a few resorts, and diving tours. Phu Quoc still not a busy place for anyone having a trip to Vietnam
Taking a bus to Phu Quoc then Hydrofoil to Phu Quoc is quite a good plan, but you can also take an oneway or a return flight from HCMC it seems more convinient
