Hi,

I agree that Rajasthan is the best place to tour if you want to include Agra into your trip.
Deogarh and Samode are also lovely little villages that you could slot in between the larger towns like Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.
Sorry, I can't advise on the train situation as I've never travelled overnight, though I have travelled in a sleeper compartment during the day and it was fine. I wouldn't have had any worries about staying in it overnight. That particular train (I can't remember which it was) was very late arriving at it's destination though and had a reputation for this. It was delayed by four hours and a guy I spoke to the day after was delayed by 12 hours on the same route.
Shatabdi Express is more reliable and will take you from Delhi to Agra, but it will cost you more.
Google Ginger hotels. These are slightly cheaper than the YWCA and more than adequate at approx. £12.50 per night. They have clean, a/c accommodation and clean restaurants that will cater for you very cheaply indeed. There is one near the railway station in New Delhi.
I love Delhi and would much rather spend time there than Mumbai, but that's just my opinion. I didn't care for Mumbai at all really. Delhi is less polluted too. Some of the bigger cities are pretty bad as regards pollution, but Delhi has changed a lot of it's vehicles to run on natural gas, which has improved things no end.

Dear visitor,

Welcome to India. I think our friends have given you lots of tips. I will request you to visit Northern part of India during summer, you can visit India Himalayas. During winter you can visit some of the Cities/ Town e.g. Shimla, Manali (Himachal Pradesh) or Joshimath (in Uttarkhand).

New Delhi, Rajasthan will be better.
