Hey,

I am a 31 year male from the UK . Recently split up with my ex-girlfriend and fancy taking 4 weeks out to do some travelling. None of my friends are willing to commit so looks like I am on my own...

March/April is looking like the best time. with Thailand/Laos probably being the preferred destination, although I am pretty much open to anything.

Anyone in fancy joining me?

Let me know...

Hey, well to be honest I am pretty much open to suggestions...

I have done some travelling in the past Japan/USA/Europe/Egypt but it was always with my ex and she was more accustomed to staying in hotels rather than hostels.

I mentioned Thailand/Laos because flights are pretty well priced from Glasgow and cost wise it seems pretty reasonable.

I am really just looking to get out of the UK for a few weeks and see as much of a new culture/country(s) as possible.

I am pretty young at heart and still enjoy the social side of travelling as well. Few beers at night etc

In terms of times, well I am doing Eastern Europe/Balkans in July with a couple of friends so Feb/March/April would probably be my best bet.

Hey, i'm a 27 year old girl from London who is planning to take 3 months out to go travelling. thinking of going feb/march and have the idea of going to indonesia and maybe onto the philippines. Did a RTW trip in 2007, taking in Thailand, vienam, loas, cambodia, malaysia, singapore, oz, nz, pacific islands and california.

geting itchy feet and the only thing stopping me deffo going is someone to travel with, well to start anyway (more for a worried mum!)

indonesia and philippines appeal? if only for a month i guess you won't be able to go to too many places.

Hey Tina.

Thanks for getting back to me...

Like I said, I am pretty much open to anything, its been my desire for years now just to throw on a backpack and travel to somewhere random, I guess there has never been a better time.

Its a pity I can only get 4 weeks max off work, but I have already booked up for 3 weeks off in July (going round Europe with friends) so thats all my holidays away :(

So what specifically do you have in mind? Where would we fly to? and what would be your preferred route?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Ben

Hey Ben

Sorry, not been on for a while, thanks for the message.

Deffo a good time to escape, the doom and gloom is just so depressing and it makes you realise life is for living not just doing a 9-5!

Ok, so planning is not at an advanced stage, thinking of flying into Bali and seeing Indonesia in some way....island hopping appeals and soaking up the culture. Am easy going and although i'd like to see as much as possible, not all about ticking boxes and am happy to go with wherever is suggested to me en route. There is nothing better than listening to fellow travellers who have done it rather than taking a lonely planet guide as gospel!

I ideally would then like to make my way to the Philippines and fly home from there. Have been quoted for the time of year I want to go, to fly into Indonesia and home from Philippines as about £600 (Flight centre). I went with trailfinders last time and i found them really helpful.

With only 4 weeks, i understand planning would be key to make the best use of time. Am open to all suggestions. Sorry I've only got sketchy plans..i'm an organised person, honest!

Let me know your thoughts
