Hey guys,

I have been living in Sydney for 2 months now and am starting to get a 'feel' for the city. With Xmas and NYE rapidly approaching,

I want to try and catch the fireworks on the bridge, but was wondering where people head to after that??

I know there are a few good DJ's playing in the local clubs but would prefer to go to a Beach party or something similar........any Ideas?

The local goverment is opening up the islands on the harbour this NYE. There are selected tickets (dont know from where - but i'd say either Ticketek or Tickmaster7) There will be live bands playing on there as well.
Rocks - obviously VERY BUSY during that time - but word of advice - only take what you need. Not even worth taking a bag of any kind. If going near Mrs Macquaries chair (opera house region) strongly advise camping there the night before ! I got there 1 year at 9am , and thought that'd be ok .... i was already about 10 deep.

Have you got all the vantage points staked out ?
I can post the best spots to view.

You might want to think about heading to Bondi. You can watch the harbour fireworks from north Bondi (excellent views), there are a few vantage points that are free, not too busy, will let you bring your own alcohol and provide toilets. From there you can head down to Bondi Beach, Groove Armada were playing last year and I'm sure there'll be some free partying going on somewhere.

I am staying at Potts Point (although it's more like Kings Cross) and I'm hoping to see the display from Embarkation Park and then maybe head down the cross it's all within walking distance what do you think?

i spent new years eve 07 in sydney we went to macquiries point even tho it was busy the atmosphere was great we just sat about chatting all day then the fire works were like nothing id ever seen. you are not ment to take your own drink in but we mixed vodka into breakfast juice and got away with it. you will have a great time
