I've just arrived in Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam and the plan is to travel from South to north in about two weeks and then try and take a diving license somewhere.

Have anyone here done it? Is it possible in the north or do i have to travel back south? What is the costs? etc.

Would be really glad for any tip.

I believe that anyone can take the test, but unless you read Vietnamese, it will be useless, and without the license you can't drive there. No one will rent you a vehicle without the license. Normally, one rents a car with driver in Vietnam.

Johnny,
I was going to comment on this post, but took a second look. I think Martin is talking about scuba diving, not 'driving'. When I was in Nha Trang, I talked to Jean Pierre at Coco Dive Center. They offer any PADI course one would like to take. Rainbow & Sailing Club Divers also offer full PADI certification in NT. Hoi An has become the newest dive location in VN. This way Martin does not have to return back to the HCMC or NT area once he travels north.
