There was a poll released here in Australia last week about the best country to live in / raise family / vacation etc. Australia polled quite well overall, coming first in a few questions - but i'd like to see what others around the world and on TP think.
Which 3 countries would be the best overall ? (please do not vote for yourself)
I'll limit this to the countries that I've been to:
Switzerland - well off, clean, independent foriegn policy, Alps, people here seem to be smart and know 3 different languages!
France - reasonably well off, got a bit of everything (alps/beach/rural/city/history), good food and I have some great family here I miss!
Germany - a bit of everything again, admire the use and infrastructure for bike use, seems quite socially progressive
As for the Netherlands I do like many things about the country but left it out of the top 3 as I think I'd prefer a more urban lifestyle.
I'm biased towards Europe though, since the only developed countries I've travelled to are here
My boyfriend and I have discussed this a few times! My vote would go to:
Argentina - such a laid back life with good food and wine and very family orientated
Malaysia - such a fabulous country, people are so friendly and made us feel like one of the locals everywhere we went, we never once felt like a tourist.
NZ - great countryside and a slower pace of life than the UK, even in the cities. But we personally couldn't see ourselves living there, we love Asia too much!
We are currently looking for another country to live as we travel and have shortlisted our countries to Malaysia and Singapore. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan!
-Australia - great climate and lifestyle and plenty of beautiful scenery
-New Zealand - climate much better than the UK, great lifestyle and stunning scenery (I'm living in NZ at the moment for while, but am English, so I think I'm allowed to vote for NZ?! )
Singapore - hot all the time, great infrastructure - medical facilities, transport etc- low crime and lots of places to shop and eat
