My sister and I (2 mid 20s girls) just planned a trip to Costa Rica and will be in San Jose on New Years Eve. Anyone have any info on the nightlife in San Jose or anything going on for New Years Eve? Also, is it safe for 2 girls to go out alone there? Any info will be helpful, thanks!

Theres an area called El Pueblo that has to be seen for nighlife in San Jose. As for safety seriously be careful at nightime.Its better to go around in groups to be honest.And make sure if you go by taxi you have change and receiving fake notes from taxi drivers is common. |

No offense but if your two young girls asking how safe it is go party alone on NY's E in a Latin I think you should reconsider!LOL! But of all Latin countries C.R is probably is the safest! so good luck and have fun, (not that you need to be told that) ice |

I have to be honest here, to save you some disappointment.... San Jose is sort of a dump. It's sketchy going out of neighbourhoods with lots of light, and the cab drivers are rip off artists. Set your price and stick to it, and I wouldn't tip. They've built that into what they expect. Good tip on the exact change...They'll try to float a bogus bill if they got stuck with one. My tip on that is to go to a restaurant with a waiter. Float the bill and tip big. The waiter will usually not notice the bad bill and if he does, he'll try to hide it so that he can keep the tip. My advice is to go to Jaco(and I NEVER give that advice!!! EVER) or Puerto Viejo rather than have your night there. I wish I could at least send you to a nightclub....But I have not found one worth it's salt inthat town. ON the other hand. I have never been a twenty year old girl in San Jose.
