I'm hoping to do some research in Cambridge in March and April. I'm looking for somewhere cheap to stay that doesn't involve socializing with loud young people. I'm not sure what a bedsit is, but it might be what I'm looking for. I don't need much, the more spartan the better.
try gumtree Unfortunately it might mean living out of cambridge in a village possibly with a family. That will mean long journey times on busses (anything up to or over an hour a day!)
there's a youth hostel that seems fairly civilized yha Cambridge
you could also try posting on the cambridge news website or looking at their ads...
I've lived in Cambridge for 10 years so if you need any other advice, happy to help
p.s. a bedsit is normally one room with few amenities...basic depends on the place, it's actually quite an outdated word now!

Thanks, Mim, for the advice. I wouldn't mind commuting to Cambridge. I was planning several side trips, anyway.
I'll check out resources you provided. It's pretty early yet to firm up anything. I'm just trying to get a general idea right now of what might be available between, say, March 19 and April 7.
