12 Month Trip to OZ, Looking for advice on locations

hi there guys,

Me and my girlfriend are gonig to Oz in january 2009, we both have 12 month holiday visas and we are both looking to work a fair bit rather than travel all the time.

I am 21, and Website design and Seo promoter, My lady is 22 and has a degree in accounting, we are both from the uk.

We have decided we are gonig to stop thailand for 2 weeks before we get to oz, mainley for a break and to do some shopping . But we are unsure of where to start working in oz, or even if to start work is stragiht away is a good idea....

We both like the idea of emigrating one day, as we both love the place! We are still unsure of where to start, but sydney is looking promising as there are many SEO & webdesign jobs there at the moment, they pay well, but the rent in sydney is high.

We also have alot of family all over OZ, can they sponser me if i wanted to stay logner?

we kinda have 2 options

Now , if we travel round oz first , (spending our entrance money) then look for a professional office job after, we may be lucky enough to get sponsered , and hopefully stay longer... , but what if we cant get good jobs?

Or

Would it be a better idea to setlle somewhere first and try and save money to go travelling at the end of our visa with lots of moeny behind us? but what if i get sponsered? i wont be able to go travelling..... also another worry is finding a flat or an apartment thats actually cheap enough to rent.

I'd just like some advice, i do like travelling but I dont think i want to backpack to be honest, I love the internet and my online businesses too much to ignore them for 12months.

To be honest i think your thinking too much about it. The best things happen when they arent planned.. this is suppose to be an exciting experiance and a break away from crappy England, so enjoy it!!!

In answer to your question i would say travel first, then you will realise that working in a serious job in Sydney is not what you want to do... travel first and all the good things will fall into place.

Travel first!! You can easily run an online business from internet cafes!

A ggod way to travel and get a feel for areas whilst stretching your budget is to join help exchange, it is an internet based "work for your keep" type site, and operates in quite a few countries including australia. My sister moved from melbourne to launceston tasmania a few years ago, she went over on a work assignment and liked it so much she moved there, after having been a person who always holidayed in hot parts of australa- she says it is great and much less rushed than the bigger cities
