Phone to email to blog question

Travel Forums System Talk Phone to email to blog question

I've been looking over this email to blog thing again. I know it will have a use for it very soon.

However I was just looking at the possibility of using MMS from a phone to the email address on the blog. It might be good for quick updates, or emergencies.

My questions are:

Will it work?

Will an attached MMS photo show up? (at the bottom I presume)

And will the phones number show up anywhere?

I know when I sent my own email an MMS it went straight into spam! As the telephone provider uses random address numbers as the MMS sender. Just wondering if it would be the same here?

Will it work?

Insofar as we've tested it: yes. (But of course the number of phones with MMS capability we have had access to has been limited, and so it's always possible a different phone does something weird and unexpected. (If so, please tell us!))

Yes. (But see previous caveat.)

No. (But see previous caveat.)

No. We don't do spam filtering on the moblog email addresses; so be doubly certain not to ever make them public, otherwise you'll have a blog full of spam. :)

Thanks for that.

Well I'll try it out this week so. I bought a cheap i-phone rip off, so it'll be interesting to see how that shows up!

I'll post back with an update once I try it out ...

Well I just tried it out, and it worked very well. The photo was larger than I expected, but then that's the phone's setting as its on 640x480. Is it possible to resize via a CSS code?

I guess it's not possible to know whether css styling will work this way either, (coming via the phone mms) as in naming a photo with the [u ] method?

Though my Chinese rip off phone does have a little photo editor that lets you write onto a photo, but then it keeps trying to put in shiny sparkling cartoon frames as well?!!

Either way it's a great feature to have work here, and another thumbs up for TP :).

Great for updating a blog when away from the internet, quick updates or for sending in an emergency 'help I've been kidnapped' message!!

You should be able to just insert all manner of simplecode. [u], [img], etc should all be treated as plain text by the phone, and sent along "as is", so that we can then interpret it.

Did the photo really show at its full 640x480 size in your blog? I would've thought we'd resize it and put the medium size (400px maximum) in there...

No no, it came through as is now. Medium I am guessing. Sorry am on a lack of sleep here. I though everything came through on thumbnail size, as that's what I always use. Forgot medium was default.

Is there a way for me to have it appear as Thumb rather than at medium. Example from phone: "blah blah blah [ img.thumb] blah blah blah - or the like?

(Actually I am just going to give the image a re size now so it should be a thumb from this end again.)
