You will find that you can get by in most countries with French, English and Portugese. Of course there are a multitude of African languages as well. Swahili is spoken in Kenya and Tanzania as well as parts of Malawi and Mozambique I believe. Zulu is spoken in South Africa and Swaziland as well as 'Click' and other tribal languages. German, I think, is spoken in Namibia and South Africa together with Africaans and English. Zimbabwe has at least 9 tribal languages as do many other countries.
English is spoken mostly in the east, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Egypt, Gambia and South Africa and French is spoken more in the north, west and central areas, as well as Madagascar.
