Some more wonderful advice from you guys, thank you again
To briefly outline things.
He doesnt actually know which way to head or where he is going, he doesnt walk along the road because he doesnt find it again.
When he eventually finds a gas station and the police are called because of his insane jibbering about dead bodies it has been 6-7 days of walking.
he is then picked up by the police and taken for questioning to do with a/several murders.
So i guess in closing, if it was something as serious as a potential murder charge, which big police station would he be taken to?
FYI The script is very supernatural based which explains alot of the strange goings on, i.e not finding the road again etc
mmm.. the first big town out there that I thought of was Dubbo. Its a bit further east though, not really 'outback' but definitely rural. Its a couple of hundred kms from Cobar and about 500km from Wilcannia, and probably the closest large town with a big police station. I know you only asked about police stations, but just thought I'd mention that Dubbo only has a Local Court which cannot deal with murder charges.. only the Supreme Court of NSW has jurisdiction over such serious crimes, and that's in Sydney.
If the crime was that serious he would (in reality) be taken to Sydney or Canberra but I'm pretty sure Broken hill has a big court house. Definitally that area would be good anyway. It was good enough for mad max
If you want him to stumble upon a pertol station in the middle of nowhere go to Packsaddle, a pub/petrol station about 200km north of Broken Hill. He could walk there from Wilcannia (though a long walk) which is probably about a 10 hour drive from Sydney. Or Wilcannia is a small rough town with a little police station.
Is this script a humorous one or serious one ?
Comical = you could set them literally at the "back of Bourke!" or in the rural town of Come-by-Chance (great name huh !)
Factual = as someone else said Nyngan / Cobar would be a LOOOONG drive in a day but would set you near enough to where you want to be. Cameron's Corner would be off the beaten track persay. Silverton (where mad max was shot).
Hope this can give you some more help
This is all excellent excellent stuff, thanks again guys, you have all been brilliant.
The script is a serious script.
It's a supernatural thriller kinda thing, not a horror.
Should we be expecting to see this movie in the theatre at any time?
That would be a dream come true Andy
I'll be sure to credit you all when i get stopped on the red carpet by E news if it happens
Just in case, the 3 scripts im working on are called "Outback" (Subject to change, working title only), "No Place Like Home" and "Prisim"
Also a zombie tv series but not sure the market is there for that.
You would find what your after around the opal fields of Lightning ridge. The Glengary field would be rugged and remote. Lots of tracks leading nowhere and plenty of deserted mine shafts to drop a body in after an opal deal goes wrong.
