hello there. I too fly off in 4 weeks and am finding it very hard to concentrate on work. I am a very new member on travellerspoint and have been getting hours of enjoyment on reading past posts. Where are you heading? How long are you going for?
Do you have any advice on Eastern Europe? Hungary/Romania/Poland/Czech?
Hi, I go for around 5 months, however if I get a job it'll be longer. I first head out to OZ, then Chile, Argentina and Brazil for the Carnival I haven't actually been to Eastern Europe as yet, however I have heard from a few that it is dirt cheap so that has to be a good thing I'd say
Where abouts in Oz are you planning on going?? I am from Victoria. If you get to Victoria you must go to Wilson's Promotory and along the Great ocean road! Melbourne is a beautiful city but I am a bit biased!!
Oh I don't know how you are coping with four weeks to go!
I haven't even booked my ticket yet, I'm determined to do it before the end of this week, and should get a chance tomorrow. I'm tearing my hair out wanting to get it booked. Hoping the reality will start to sink in then and i'll calm down for a bit bit....before the panic sets in!
Presuming I go when i'd planned, at the start of Jan, thats three whole months and I'm giddy enough as it is! Somebody slap me!
Haven't even told the boss yet- I'm waiting till I've booked it. Then hand my notice in woo-hoo. My last few weeks is going to be in the run up to Christmas, as if that wasn't enough of a piss-take at work!!
So I'll not be doing any work for most of December (no change there) but what are they gonna do? Sack me????????
Hey, by the way I'm in Dublin this weekend with some mates, can anyone recommend any good bars, restaurants other things to do/see etc? bearing in mind I'm saving for next year!
Nothing worse than work right before a trip.
My last trip was to Costa Rica in March.
(Actually, my last trip was to Atlanta on Monday, but I don't count business trips, or the trip to an all inclusive in Mexico in May for a wedding).
Costa Rica was Awesome! Saw lots of very cool wild life - squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, weird big-blue bird, kind of strange big ground-hoggy thing, dolphins and herons. (I made of the name for some of the animals I saw). And the beaches rocked.
I loved Chile and Argentina when I was down there in '03. If it isn't on your list, make sure you see Patagonia. It was an absolutely awesome landscape - mountains and windswept plains populated by Guanacos munching on the grass and penguins burrowing 3 foot deep holes with their tiny little flippers.
Anyway, enjoy and give us a ring if you reach Toronto, Canada.
Hey Greg cheers. If I don't get a job teaching English in SA I will be up to see Canada, it is on my list of places I'd love to go to If I do get a job then Canada will have to be put on hold but I'll keep that in mind thanx. As for Central America, I've heard it is beautiful yet totally different to South America. I love seeing wildlife and so the more weird and wonderful species I see out there, the better I hope to see Patagonia definitely, as well as all the National Parks and Art Museums. I just can't wait Lil Liz that's a wise decision not telling the boss until you have booked it. I have worked for my company for 3 and a half years and I just handed my notice in last Friday. I have to say they weren't as bad as I thought they'd be, infact they wished me all the best...don't know if that's a good thing or not No they did say they were sorry to see me go so I am not going to throw any fits Anyway Liz you will be wondering what you were worrying about when you get out there gal Bobbybob, I am going to Sydney I'm afraid and only staying for three weeks. I doubt that will be the only time I visit OZ tho', there are so many other places I want to see within OZ, including Melbourne but they will have to wait. So far when I go I will be seeing the Blue Mountains, Bondi Beach, Manley Beach and the Opera House amongst other things. I'm also taking a trip further south to a little town called Wollongong, where there is supposed to be the biggest buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere, I'm not actually Buddhist but the religion interests me and so will be seeing that. My parents are staying there for a couple of weeks also, so I figured it would be good seeing them too
My last trip was to Barcelona, and Austrailia
Barcelona is a great city, with lots of Architecture and culture to see,and great thing is it also has a beach. and lots of street entertainment, and cheap hostel, which are full of young and lively travellers.
Austrailia last year was a wonderful experience, i travelled up the east coast to Brisbane with my 15yr old daughter, it was a blast,She went home and i flew up to Carins, and had a great stay, i went snorkelling on the barrier reef, white water rafting on the river tully. The hostels in Carins are great, and cheap.I would like to suggest the kola hostel for anyone who wishes a quiet nights sleep.lol.
I leave in 3 weeks time for to go to Austrailia,im landing in Melbourne, where im going to stay for around 12 days, to meet up with family and friends. Then ill fly up to Airlee beach, then make my way back down the coast to Sydney for december.
I'm at the stage im counting my days and making sure i have all my last minute things done regards to my house and my trip.It is a bit nerve racking time, and to make the matters worse my youngest brother has just been called up to do cumpulsory army service in Iraq,so this will be a worrying time during my trip.He to loves Austrailia and has been many times, and will be over when his tour of duty ends.
I,m looking forward to meeting all the travellers who have been in contact with me, as this trip will be real special for me,as last year i dind not meeting anyone to socialise with.So anyone else who wants to meet up just drop me a message.
Well, just so you can feel better, I fly away in 3 months to India and I´m already spending my mornings on the travellers point (at work)!!
Travelling is very exciting! actually, I think it´s one of the most exciting things to do in life!
