I came into UK in October without a medical and X ray report as I had read it somewhere that Singaporeans would not require it. However, I was stopped at UK customs and had to get an X ray done. Was rather simple though, the lady just explained that it was necessary and did the X ray. No payment was required. To play it safe, may wish to check with the people at High Comission?

I read the same thing on their website too (but I couldn't find it now). Malaysians and Singaporeans do not require to provide any medical test result when they enter the UK on a long-term visa like the WHM. This is why none of the WHM applicants were told that they need one by the High Commission. However, the story is different when you first arrive at their border, and I don't know why. After getting clearance from the immigration, they will send you to the health quarantine for an x-ray scan anyway. I think they were just being paranoid because both countries were not even listed as TB risk countries on their website. Just come without any medical report (unless you have very serious medical condition) and you'll be fine. They won't charge you anything for the x-ray.
