Fiona77 has indicated that this thread is about Australia

Hi guys,

I'm gonna be spending this Christmas and New Year in Sydney and I can't wait but I'd be really interested to hear from anyone who has done this before or is also planning to do the same this year.

I can't imagine what it's going to be like having Christmas in the sun!! (and what it's gonna be like being so far away from home) ;)

Fiona dont worry about being away from home and having christmas down under as alot of us are in the same boat, some of us are meeting up so do get in touch,I'm alot older and will be strange for me not to be with my family,i just thought it was time for change, and adventure.I reckon New Year in Sydney will be a great party.

Yeah man, that party sounds really cool :), I'm really looking forward to getting to Oz but it feels like ages away!

I only booked my ticket last week and leave in 5 weeks so I'm quite excited at the moment ;)

Have you had your trip planned for ages?

I'll be in Sydney for Christmas, I think! Planning on getting a job there in the next couple of weeks, so I shuold be around. The plan, it sounds very irish I Know, but there are two of us and we're quite set on roasting a turkey somehow! anyone think it'd be nice to try have a meet up and rustle together a Christmas dinner, backpacker style? It's a bit far away, but is it a good idea?

at christmas time u r going to realise something quite ridiculous about us aussies - we have roast chicken/beef/lamb whatever meat u like on the 40 degree heat of xmas day. it's a hangover from being a brittish colony. whilst the weather will be different the food is the same. xmas is the stupidest time of the year in australia

Hi

I get to Oz on 5th Dec and fly up to Brisbane on the 6th. Should be back in Sydney by 20th Dec and up for a party. This has got to be a Xmas and NYE to remember and where better than in Sydney.

I want to meet people as Im worried about being away from home over Xmas.

A christmas dinner sounds like a great idea. I can't wait to ring family.....while they are huddled around the fire keeping warm, I will be wearing shorts on a beach....fantastic!!

Hi

Have you tried booking accommodation through this website? I booked my NYE hostel through this site and it was done very quickly. I booked hostel over Xmas via the YHA website. Sydney is going to be really busy and that might mean having to keep moving around. I have to move on 29th dec to a different hostel and then moving back on the 2nd Jan! It will all be worth it though.

I can't wait.

Cat :)
