Hi :)

Apologies if this has been asked, I did a search and couldn't find the answer.

My boyfriend and I leave for India in 5 days moving on into SE asia around mid jan and we are looking at the possibility of then going to South America if it isn't too difficult/expensive to get there.

Does anyone know any cheap routes from SE Asia to somewhere in Suth America, lie Brazil, Chile or Peru preferably?

You won't find anything cheap - simply not enough traffic for this market to be practical. I would suggest checking out Korean Airlines - they have a new route, via Seoul and the USA to Brazil. JAL also flies to Brazil via Tokyo, but since Korean is new on the route, they might have a deal or two available.

hmmm.. I think taking that route from SEA to South America would be very hard and it will probably eat up about 3 days in flight time... my old colleagues went to Porto Alegre in Brazil and they had very long flights from Manila to Singapore to Frankfurt to Sao Paulo to Porto Alegre... they had 10 hour layovers in Frankfurt and Sao Paulo... so be prepared for those long flights... except maybe if you have US Visa which may give you a shorter trip via Miami or LA...

The only relatively cheap way of doing this would be via a budget airline to Australia (ie Tiger, Air Asia X or Jet Star) you would have several choices of departure airport to see which was the cheapest then you would need a flight to South America from Sydney but these seats are quite in demand. I know Qantas have just started flights from Sydney to Buenos Aires and LAN Chile do flights from Sydney to Chile.
