Apologies if this question has been asked before, I’ve had a look through the search function and couldn’t find anything, but if there is already a thread on this, please direct me to it!

We are looking at being in HCMC around mid-January, and would like to do a tour through the Mekong Delta, ideally leaving from HCMC and then finishing off in Phnomh Penh. We were thinking of either a one or two night tour, does anyone have any recommendations of companies? I’m guessing this will be something that heaps of tour companies will organise, but does anyone have any personal experience? Also, I’m assuming these tours will cross the border into Cambodia at a border crossing where you can get a visa on arrival?

Also, apologies for the question overload, but we had also thought of visiting Phu Quoc Island whilst in the area. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to combine a Mekong Delta/Phu Quoc trip and then crossing the border into Cambodia, without needing to backtrack to HCMC.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

We did a one day trip on the Mekong Delta, but we did not go to Cambodia.
Anyways, we just found a brochoure at our hotel in Saigon, signed up for it at the hotel. The staff actually called them and helped us. Then, the following morning, we were picked up at the hotel by a bus, and we drove to the small town were the ferry is located. It took about 2 hours if i remember correctly.
The ferry takes about 30 minutes, before you get to the place were you enter the small boats, and drive up the Mekong Delta.

It's really exiting, you get to see a lot of local culture :)

You are right, heaps of companies offer 1-2-3 day tours of the delta. Most return to HCM, but not all. You can do a 2-3 day tour of the delta and exit VN at 'Chau Doc' and head to Phnom Penh. Sinh Cafe and others offer this option.

You could take a tour and get to Phu Quoc on your after returning to HCM. Or you could bail out out when you are as close to Phu Quoc as your tour gets. Take local transport to PQ. You can then cross into Cambodia at the 'Ha Tien' border crossing. As far as I can tell, you have to buy your Cambodian visa while in HCMC. Ha Tien is still a very basic post, not much transport available once you cross. This is a bit more adventurous than going to PP after your delta tour. Good Luck.
