Here in Rotterdam the weather is depressing. Its foggy, its cold, its grey. I think its 3 degrees. Its terrible. I hate it. I am going to kill myself now.

Isn't that always the weather in Rotterdam;)
Yep, we had 2 good weeks in the Netherlands, with ice and snow, real winter. Now it's like normal again: autumn-ish weather in winter

Unfortunately that kind of real winter never lasts long in Holland. We really have a sucky climate. Winters are generally warm en summers are generally cold:(.

Come to Isa Manor for a real winter. Woke up to -30C temps this morning. With the ~9mph breeze out there it puts the wind chill factor at -42C. Lovely time of year. I swear I saw penguins in the back yard a few minutes ago.

Isa, I can not even closely imagine how cold that is. Last week it was -20C at night in the south of Netherlands and I thought that was extreme (during the day it was a sissy -1C). Are you sure you don't live on the north pole?

It's f*cking cold - that's all I can say. Frostbite within 10 minutes or so, eyes water and the tears freeze to your face, taking a breath isn't pleasant without a scarf over your nose and mouth, cars don't start, schools get cancelled (don't want the kiddies standing out in the cold waiting for the bus) and hot chocolate with lots of rum is mandatory. As for living at the North Pole - if a polar bear cruises through the yard - you might be on to something! Even the outside cats aren't leaving the warmth of the big straw pile in the haymow to come down for food and water. (And they call them dumb animals.)

When I took off my scarf this morning when we finally made it to the Metro, my hair was frozen stiff along the sides of my face. Lovely!

When we were kids, we used to make fun of my mother for wearing a hat, scarf, knee-high boots, gloves, and a poofy coat (we called it her "bell coat" cause it swung like something out of Notre Dame when she walked). I took a peek in the mirror before leaving this morning and there she was looking back.

I agree with Isa - it is effing cold here! This morning it was -30 C and -42 C with windchill. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be colder While I was cleaning my car my glasses frosted over. No, not fogged, frosted. Like I have a teeny scrapper on hand to clean them off. Geesh!

Last time we were in Belfast, and it was about 10C (albeit really humid), my father-in-law turned to me and said "Bet you don't get this kinda cold in Canada!"

Ha! I say, ha!

It's going to be 40 degrees celsius in Perth, Australia today. Sorry to the Canadian people who are so cold.........but.........40 degrees is ghastly!
