How do you receive packages in Bolivia

Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean How do you receive packages in Bolivia

i am currently in Salta, Argentina and will be travelling up to San Pedro De Atacama and then onto Uyuni and finally (eventually!) to La Paz in the next few weeks. My mum, bless her, wants to send me a package of Christmas tat and i have no idea where to tell her to send it. Does anyone know if there is a place in La Paz where you can send packages to from the UK so i can pick it up on the way through? I know that there are some South American Explorer Clubhouses dotted around SA which offer this service, but i don´t think they have a clubhouse in Bolivia. Any ideas?

thanks

Use the Poste Restante service, a worldwide service where the post office holds the mail for you until you claim it. The mail/parcel will be held for a limited period of time (from 30 up to 90 days) before it is being sent to the "dead mail office". This service is usually only available at the General Post Office (GPO) of a city, so don't have it mailed to a small post office.

For La Paz, you can ask your mum to send it to:

<your name as per passport>
c/o Poste Restante
Correo Central
La Paz
Bolivia

You must bring along your passport to Correo Central, the GPO of La Paz, to claim your package. The service is usually free. If there's a charge, it's just a nominal sum.

You can use the same service for all other main cities in the world using the same format below.

<your name as per passport>
c/o Poste Restante
General Post Office
City Name
Country Name
