Recently split up with my ex and I have always been the responsible type working Monday to Friday 9-8 etc, however I feel that there is more to life and with the UK employment market as it is, I'm keen to embark on a new life long advernture, visting new countries, cultures and meeting new people. Would anyone like to join me on my travels??? Although travelling can be very exciting, I'm also secretly nervous at the same time.
Although, I have visited a few countries (France, Spain Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Cyprus, Austria etc) this has only been as a tourist and I have not really experienced the cultures of these countries or any others.
Open to suggestions in terms of itenary (although, very keen to visit Australia) and fully aware that a trip such as this is not exactly cheap and therefore I appreciate the need for budget accomodation etc.
I would say that I'm fairly easy-going and get or well with most/anyone that I have ever met.
Would love to hear from anyone who is either seeking to travel or alternatively others that have had experiences of travelling e.g. countries/places to go to OR places not to go to.
I have been told life is what you make it - I'm looking forward to a great life & brilliant experiences
Have a lovely day!!

Hi Fiona, I'm from UK too.
Have a look at my thread - it's on same page as yours, the route i'm doing is in it as well a bit further down.
I'm not going for a few years, so gives you a chance to save - i'm ridding of my commitments here too, must be something in the air! lol.
hi fiona...how are you...??
im pretty much in the same boat as you, have recently become single and now wanna full-fill my dream/ambition of travelling around australia/new zealand/thailand...im hoping to leave the uk in september time, fly to thailand, spend roughly 6 weeks there then off to australia, landing in the west and making my way across to the east for xmas time and then up to the gold coast then on to new zealand...this is just ideas at the moment and i would be flexible or open to new ideas...i will go it alone if i have too as im pretty sure il meet people along the way however i think the whole experience would be just that bit better if shared with someone...anyway hope to hear from you soon
I'm planning to travel around Malaysia from May to June, then up to Thailand. I need to spend a month on Phuket for a course but will then travel round Thailand...after that I'm undecided. Let me know if any of that interests you and you want to meet up for all or part of it.
Hi Fiona. It sounds like you have done quite a bit of traveling in Europe already. I am in the States and have only been to Paris once and the West of Ireland once. I am on a tight budget and can only afford the simplest sort of travel experience, but I'd like to have a companion to explore other cultures with too. I am a 52 year old, single female. I have a boyfriend, but he hasn't the time or money to travel, not to mention a passport. I have friends, but none of them are as adventurous or interesting in traveling as I am.
I'm from Australia and would be happy to catch up with you when you're over here, but I'm also planning a New Zealand holiday with a friend in December '09 and we're looking for more people who are interested in joining us. We'll be doing the Able Tasman walk while we're over there, which is apparently a beautiful walk along the coast. We'll be travelling on a budget, so let me know if you'll be heading over around that time and we can meet up!
Oh, we're both female, I'm 25 and she's 26.
