ITS ABOUT TIME... Wait it should have been done 15 years ago, when Europe and the US are closed doors for Asian travellers.
We should all have the same rules. Last I almost kicked an very OLD white guy who was trying to molest two very young and ultra NAIVE local girls. There is too much trash in Thailand... They have a right to clean up their royal culture. I have lot o friends from Europe, but they would agree the pathetic of the species must be exterminated.
(Everything said with a Sense of Humor).
I'm just bitter, coz I can't go to Europe. Even if I have the funds.

Does anyone know the rules if you are flying into Thailand and make your own way from Thailand to Singpore and not have an actual flight OUT of Thailand?

Entering Thailand overland will only give you a 15-day visit pass, and there's no facility at the border for you to get a regular Tourist Visa. You must get that in advance at a Thai Embassy.

the overstay rate is 500 baht per day, so your cheapest option is probably just paying 1000 baht at customs if they notice!!

I haven't been there myself, but I'm told there is a Thai consulate at Vientienne or near the border where you can get a tourist (60 day) visa - I believe they are FREE at the moment ot bring in more tourists. You can then extend this at immigration in thailand for an extra 30 days.

Im confused!! I will be flying into Bangkok next month and will be issued with a 30day visa. Im considering travelling north and crossing the border into Laos, then travelling south thru Laos and crossing the border back into Thailand (at chong mek) in order to cross into Cambodia at the chong chom crossing. I would cross straight from Laos into Cambodia, but I would be a long way from Angkor wat. Do I need to buy a re entry visa?...... or will I be issued with a 15 day visa on re entry?

Yes, you would be issued a 15-day visit pass when you enter Thailand overland, assuming that you're from one of the visa exempted countries. By the way, it'd be helpful for us giving you pointers on visa matters if you provided some basic info (e.g. citizenship) about yourself in your profile.
