Quoting trainrider

Im confused!! I will be flying into Bangkok next month and will be issued with a 30day visa. Im considering travelling north and crossing the border into Laos, then travelling south thru Laos and crossing the border back into Thailand (at chong mek) in order to cross into Cambodia at the chong chom crossing. I would cross straight from Laos into Cambodia, but I would be a long way from Angkor wat. Do I need to buy a re entry visa?...... or will I be issued with a 15 day visa on re entry?

Yes, you would be issued a 15-day visit pass when you enter Thailand overland, assuming that you're from one of the visa exempted countries. By the way, it'd be helpful for us giving you pointers on visa matters if you provided some basic info (e.g. citizenship) about yourself in your profile. :)

If an international flight gives 30 days could you not do the dirt cheap Air Asia flight to KL and back.
Just a thought as i am doing that this year.

you could always get one of the free tourist visas (60 days) on offer at your local home consulate........

Interesting. I like to save up my vacation days and use several weeks at once, especially when traveling as far as Asia (from the U.S.). Guess I'm not going to Thailand anytime soon. Looks like a beautiful country, though. Or is that just the tourist brochures? I hear there's a lot of "ex-pats" there. How do they fare with immigration, I wonder.

I can't really believe this... is it actually still the case.

I've already got ticekts online but I don't want to have to change my plans.. I was going to go over to Cambodia for a few days, then spend three weeks in the islands... but if I only have 15 days then it's a mess....

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Yes the rule is still in effect. Entering by air you will get 30 days on arrival, overland you will get 15 days on arrival.

Hi all,
I read about 5th March, 2010 being the deadline for free Thai visa (not able to find the url now). Is it for obtaining visa or any entry into the country after date will invite visa fee of B1000 even if you have obtained it earlier ?

Thanks
