GOOD HOSTEL & BEST THINGS TO DO IN PERTH

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific GOOD HOSTEL & BEST THINGS TO DO IN PERTH

Hi all.
I'm all excited as i have today booked my flight to Perth. I have family in Melbourne & a good friend in Sydney so i go & start my journey a few thousand miles away....I think
I was not intending on throwing myself in @ the deep end but it seemed exciting when i sat with the guy @ Trailfinders.
So i now find myself in a situation of somewhat relying on information gathered from the web, books & most importantly fellow travellers - hence my post.
As you are all aware you can spend hours on the web, that is useful but there is no better way than asking those who have already or are currently there! Anyway i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions re a good place to put my head for the first few days. Infact more importantly somewhere with a great atmosphere, not neccessarily parties every night - even though i would not say no but somewhere nice & helpful.
Once i've got a base i'm gonna look for some work. I heard there loads of fruit picking to the North & South, but also would consider anything else. Anyone got any good ideas :)
Inaddition anyone else planning on being there this Feb????

Thanks for taking the time to read this far. Really hope to hear from u.
Steve

Hey divaboy, did you tick the box 'allow other Travellerspoint members to see I'm staying here' when booking it? That's assuming you booked it through Travellerspoint of course :) The reason I ask is because we just recently properly launched this social bookings feature (first in the world; yay!) and I figure it's the perfect kind of feature for travellers like yourselves that are staying in hostels and might want to connect before getting there. So curious to get feedback!

Bummer, but now you know for next time :) Just to be clear, it's not in the actual forum, but 'lives' inside the accommodation area when making a booking. Aside from seeing other travellerspoint members staying at the same place, you can see ratings, photos and a map where the properties are on the Perth hostels page here on TP.

Anyway, both these properties have a great rating (77% on Oceans Beach and 72% for Billabong) as left by past backpackers staying there, so they are both excellent choices! Anything above 70 is very good in my experience.
