Hi

Me and my girlfriend are travelling to Brisbane either on the 1st or 2nd feb (i'm actually waiting for her to finish work now so we can book our flights).
Just wondering if anyone will be there at the same time or has any helpfull tips on work etc as we will be briefly returning home in may and ideally will already have work experiance to qualify for our 2nd year before then.

Thanks Rick

Might be wrong but I don't believe there is a great deal for tourists to see or do in Brisbane:(........

I agree, I moved on after a day as I found it pretty boring. I would choose Sydney, Melbourne or Perth over Brisbane.

I disagree. it's a good city. true, there is not much to see in the way of touristy sites but if you are staying there for an extended period of time you will probably meet people and have a blast. I would say it's the same as melbourne in that it's more of a city to live in as a opposed to a city to visit for a few days.

are you looking for work to get a second year visa? maybe you could go to caboolture just north of brisbane there are trains that go there I think. I sold strawberries in the streets for a bit. it wasn't very legal, but I got to see alot of the different suburbs of the city and it paid well. If you have experience in bars go to the valley you should have no problem finding temporary work. but that won't help with a second year visa.

anyway it has beautiful weather plus you can go in the ocean that time of year without fear of deadly jellyfish. It's a big city though and to get to the beaches you have to drive or learn the train system.

Cheers guys

You've actually all confirmed what i've heard alot, there seems to be alot of mixed opions with Brisbane, can't be any worse than where i'm living now so bring it on.

I would prefer some sort of construction work but cheers Paul, beggars can't be choosers and i'm a pretty big fan of bars and clubs I also dj so its proberly a good way to go if i'm gonna get into it in oz.
