Just wondering if anyone has done this trip?

Plan on stopping off at Hue along the way for a few days.

My question is what leg of this trip has the best views? we are taking the night train on one leg and a day train on the other so was just wondering what has the better views for the day leg.

Thanks

Hi, just done this trip recently - definately think stopping off for a few days is a good idea! We went to Hoi-An but either should be good! Best views are between Danang and Hue - train goes right along the coast and quite high up! Make sure you do that bit in the day!

We did hard sleeper twice - first time was ok - we were middle berth, but there was no mattress so it is pretty hard. Second time we went on the top berths and I had one of the worst nightsof my life! the air con was pointing straight at me and was freezing for about 15minutes, then suddenly switched for the next 15minutes when it became warmer and harder to breathe! REally unpleasant and as the middle bunk was only like a doller more I would probably go for that or the bottom bunk!

Have fun!

Hi Mr,

Why don't take flight by Jetstar pacific, it's the lowcost carrier, fare not much more expensive and you can book online at jetstar.com

Saver time and your health when travelling by train Hanoi - Saigon. Only should travel by train in the short distance such as: Hue - Danang --> this you can get the nice view of Hai Van pass

Hi,

I reckon if you have time you should def stop off along the way.

Hue, Hoi An, Mui Ne, Saigon was my route in 2005. Good fun and a nice insight in Vietnam without just racing through the country.

Cheers :)
