Travel Forums Europe Barcelona in early Jan?

Been looking at getting a cheap flight to Barcelona after the new year. Few questions:

1- Whats the weather like at that time of year?
2- How long could I stay for with £1000 assuming I don't go out all the time and stay in budget accommodation?
3- What would be the best hostel to stay at to meet other travelers and that's cheap?
4- Are jobs easy to come by over there at the moment? (don't speak Spanish)
5- Any other advice?

Hi, I'm from Barcelona,

I'd say you could last pretty long. Only its cheaper to rent a room and just book a hotel to meet up with someone for one day or night. Its raining a lot here now, pretty cold, i'd say around +10 +5.

The jobs I'm not certain about, though, the are pretty scarce with the crisis and all.

Hope I could help/

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Barcelona is going to be pretty awful then. Have you thought of a month in Thailand? They have a new PM and the troubles are over. Guaranteed sunshine. Lots of cheap accommodation. Food, drink and everything else is cheap. Nice beaches. You don't need a visa for upto 30 days (get one on arrival). Check it out on the internet and ask some questions here.

Weather: not very good, but better than England!

Work: What have you got to offer an employer? It will need to be something good to compensate for not speaking Spanish (or Catalan, presumably). Sorry, but I think your chance of finding work would be virtually nil.
