I'm travelling to australia in january. I'm doing the east coast to begin with, but am not sure where to go from there... i keep changing my mind. Looking for advise on whether to go right around the coast or down the centre through alice springs. How long would it take to take in the sights of the west coast, and what is the best way to travel the west coast?
i havent actually travelled oz yet (im flying over there in 2 weeks) but from the reading and hours on the net ive decided that along the east coast its best to go on a "on and off" bus, cos there r loads of places to stop off on the way. i decided to go by greyhound mainly cos they r cheaper than ozex and are more reliable cos they have more busses...
as for the rest of oz i decided to go by train (great western rail) again cos its cheaper than busses, and cos there arent as much things to see and do on the way like the east coast. there is a special ticket for backpackers in which u have 6 months unlimited travel on the 3 lines which get u from sydney-adelaide-perth, adelaide-melbourne and adleaide-alice springs-darwin. and has a few stopovers on the way where u can take short tours of those places... u can get the exact facts on the webpage (which i cant remember but i wrote it down in a recent post, so just look for it)
anyways, thats what i have planned for me
hope it helps...
oops, i meant great southern raill...
