So, in the interest of over-analyzing everything, and thanks in large part to some urging from Sander, I've put together a page listing the top Travellerspoint travel destinations in 2008. And I've also compared them to their standings in 2007, so you can see whether they have become more or less popular.

Have fun, looking over these top 50 destinations in 2008

Very cool! Auckland and Ho Chi Minh city really seem on the rise.

Interesting. Is there also a top 50 of countries possible?

Cool! :)

How about a more general one that shows by countries rather than specific destinations? We can use both stats to start projects for the Travel Guide.

I hadn't even considered a country list. But yes, that would definitely be possible. Will have to get back to you on that later though.

One interesting stat for me was that Beijing actually dropped guess we don't attract the Olympics attending type of traveller so much.

Update.. you can now also break it down by nationality. So these were the most popular cities for US travellers.

You're quick! At this rate, I think I'm seeing the countries stats coming up in the next few minutes.

By the way, if it's not a hassle, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can be grouped together with the UK to provide a more accurate data.
