chin123 has indicated that this thread is about Finland

Hi,
I have got a job in Finland and I have some general questions about Finland. The location of my company is Vantaa and from the little research I have done I think it is pretty close to the capital city Helsinki. I would l ike to know an estimate of monthly expenses including housing and everything in a place like Vantaa.
I have never been to Europe before so It would really be great if someone could tell me about the social life in finland.
I would greatly appreciate any replies.

Thanks a lot
Shreya

Hi Shreya,

Yes, Vantaa is located next to Helsinki.
Unfortunately in Helsinki area there is the highest cost of
living in Finland. In Vantaa, I think you can rent a flat (one room)
for 450-600 euros a month.

I'm not sure what to tell you about other monthly expenses.
There's a variety of travel cards you can purchase
for travelling in Helsinki area... you'll find more info
on them here:

Living so near Helsinki, you'll have great opportunities
for whatever it is that you enjoy doing on your free time...

Welcome to Finland! :)

Howdy!

I've visited a friend in Vantaa this past January. It's basically a suburb of Helsinki. It's very clean, safe and quiet. Brace yourself, Finland is a very, very expensive place. Finns are a very civilised people. They are also stoic, shy and reserved, except when they drink....the Finns like to drink alot. Besides that, you must get used to the winters. The cold wasn't a problem for me, but the short amount of sunlight (during those winter months) was a bummer.

Ciao
