2week trip to Laos!

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to go to Laos for 2weeks and was wondering if anyone can give me suggestions on where i can visit, what to do and what special food there is etc etc. I'm planning to go at end of January til mid February. I currently live in Beijing so I will start my trip in beijing and finish in beijing too! I'd love to go villages in the countryside or in the mountains where most travellers dont go to so if you know anywhere, please tell me, thank you!!

PS: where do you think i should enter the country and where to leave? What options are there? Would it be the best option to first fly to either Bangkok or Hanoi and from there, fly to Vientiane?

Hi Daisuke,

There are a lot more regular flights from Bangkok to Vientiane than there are from Hanoi, and they are also cheaper so it might be best to travel through Bangkok.

In terms of where to visit in Laos, the options are pretty much endless. Luang Prabang is a great place and a must-see, and from here there are lots of options for you to get off the beaten path by heading north through Nong Khiaw and onwards towards Phongsali and Luang Namtha. Alternatively, my favourite part of Laos is the far south in Champasak province with the Four Thousand Islands, the World Heritage site of Wat Phou and the waterfalls ont he Bolaven Plateau.
